Following is a list of the nine seminars
offered at the Leadership Institute Program on Friday, January 2003
at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Walnut Creek,
California. All presenters are active WOVA members.
Three seminars were offered in the morning
and six seminars were offered in the afternoon. Participants could choose
to attend one morning seminar of their choice and two afternoon seminars.
Check-in began at 8:00 am and the first
seminar started at 9:00 am. The day included lunch, networking and hors
d'oeuvres from 4:30 to 6:00 pm and a dinner from 6:30 to 9:30 pm with
keynote speaker Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen.
Morning Sessions:
Emotional
Intelligence: Body-Centered
Awareness for Authentic Living
with Jacquie Hale
Learn how your body can facilitate
self-discovery and focused decision-making. Participants will gain processing
tools for emotional expression and release. Using the major emotions
of joy, anger, fear, and sadness, participants will gain ways of communicating
emotions in a way that is unarguable eliminating blame and criticism.
Presenter: Jacquie Hale is a professional
coach and faculty member of the Living University where she teaches
Self Esteem, Conscious Relationship and Life Path Visioning. She is
author of a workbook, “Transformation: Coaching Your Self to Wholeness
and is also a massage therapist who works with clients to release emotional
holding.

with Marilyn Miller, M.A
Stress and tension
result when the focus of attention is placed on work and obligations.
Expand your use of time exploring rituals and ceremonies to evoke deeper
understanding of life purpose and meaning. Connect to energies in nature
to use effective ways to release past pain while putting new energies
and direction into visions and goals.
Marilyn Miller, M.A. is a career coach and Religious Science Minister
who is the Director of Singing Earth Retreat Center. She is a research
associate of the Bioenergy Fields Foundation in Malibu and one of the
founders of WOVA. She is a graduate of the Institute for Training Leaders,
the Founder of the WOVA Leadership Institute, former Executive Director
of the Theatre School At Cal Arts and the author of “Celebration
Makers: Roots, Rituals & Heroes of America’s Holidays.”

Talasteena Miller, M.Ed. is an award winning educator and hypnotherapist.
who is also a coach and seminar leader. Talasteena is a breast cancer
survivor who coaches clients to move beyond health challenges. She has
numerous organizations including Disney World, Florida Public Schools,
Foundation for Conscious Evolution, Unity and Religious Science Churches.

with Kathlyn Schaaf
The need for female leadership is critical at
this time in history . Since women face unique challenges when they
step into their power and wisdom, this session will provide participants
with opportunities to explore turning points in their life’s journey
and help them to identify concrete steps to actualize their true potential.
Kathlyn Schaaf, MFT is a therapist and founder of Wise Woman Workshops,
a vehicle she uses to inspire women about the world’s need for
their leadership. As the former Executive Director of the Wisconsin
Positive Youth Development Initiative, Kathlyn has been using experiential
techniques to facilitate personal and community change for many years.

with Dr. Hyla Cass, M.D.
From morning coffee

Practical Methods of Self Care
with Lynn Bieber, MFCC
Self-care is not self indulgent; it is essential
to survival. It is essential as the basis for healthy authentic relationships.
We can not nurture others from a dry well. When we nurture others from
a place of fullness, we are renewed instead of depleted. In this session
learn what is not working and create your own self- care plan.
Lynn Bieber. is a Marriage and Family Therapist and Entrepreneurial
Healer who has been active in the fields of education, family therapy
and health care since 1967. The driving force of her work is her desire
to see each person ignite their magnificence. She has trained therapists
and teaches numerous graduate level classes.
Using
the Creative Process to
Resolve Conflict
Carolyn J. Douglas, M.S.
Recognizing that change often brings conflict,
Douglas works from the foundation of the creative process, the practice
of applying spiritual principles to all areas of life. In this workshop,
participants will gain greater personal insight into how to consciously
use their creative process to gain greater fulfillment in their life
experience.
Carolyn J. Douglas, M.S. specializes in facilitation, mediation, negotiation
and conflict resolution. She received her training through the National
Enforcement Training Institute, The Cooper Management Institute, and
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She is a graduate of the University
of San Francisco and the Holmes Institute. Carolyn is co-President of
the WOVA Board of Directors.
RESPOND
POWERFULLY TO LIFE
with Elana Auerbach and Kim Arnold
We play out the story of our life based on our
identity which consists of many characters. During this session we will
identify the characters that help define moments of success and failure.
By bringing awareness to these characters, you will discover a sense
of freedom, play and self-acceptance.
Elana Auerbach and Kim Arnold are partners in CollaboratiVisions, whose
mission is to cultivate inner and outer peace. Elana is a trainer and
facilitator who is committed to manifesting a peaceful coexistence between
Israel and Palestine and has worked with organizations and groups in
New York City, San Francisco, and London. Kim is a trainer who coaches
Fortune 50 executives and teams who refer to her as a strategic thinker
and trusted advisor who “listens with compassion and gets the
job done.”

with Marilyn Nyborg
Come and learn how and why WOVA has invited
women to join with millions of others throughout the world to celebrate
women’s true worth. With a growing number of events and venues
taking place form March 3rd through March 8th 2003, WOVA invites you
to learn how to participate in this global event focused on the value
of women and the future of the human family.
Marilyn Nyborg, keeper of the internet calendar of
events for “Gather The Women”, is a member of the GTW International
Guiding Circle. She is president of Nyborg-Dow Associates, which specializes
in training recruiters and placing technical engineers with small startups.
Marilyn, who publishes the “Seeing the World Through Women’s
Eyes” newsletter, has led workshops, retreats and participated
in Women’s spiritual circles for over 30 years.
